I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request. Below is your request and our response.
On the 30th May 2025 the cleveland police facebook page said the following
"In Cleveland, one stretch of the A689 Stockton Road, near to the Belle Vue area, scored the highest on the RHI due to the number of serious and fatal collisions. Over the last three years, 56% of these collisions have involved speeding as a factor, 44% have involved drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs and 11% involved some form of distraction, such as mobile phone use. "
- Specifically what stretch of road are they talking about and what dates have been used?
- A689 BELLE VUE WAY between Tesco and Truro drive
- How many serious and fatal collisions occured on this stretch of road during the last three years?
- 5
- How many of these serious and fatal collisions was excessive speed the sole factor?
- It is not possible to say if speed is the sole factor as there may be others
- How many of these serious and fatal collisions involved drugs and/or alcohol?

The Freedom of Information Code of Practice (see below link) states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced. Public authorities are not obliged to accept internal reviews after this date.
