FOI 370/25 Public Indecency Incidents

Enquiry Reference: 370 -25                                                                                              

I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request.  Below is your request and our response.

Please provide the following details for all recorded incidents of public indecency from 1st January 2022 to the present date: 

1. A breakdown of the nature of each public indecency offense, including but not limited to: 
1. Public sexual acts (including specifics such as intercourse, oral, or anal sex) 
2. Indecent exposure/flashing 
3. Public masturbation 
4. Other forms of public indecency (please specify) 

Below are the volume of crimes recorded under 88E Exposure and Voyeurism validated by the year. I have then grouped them by the type of offense as given above which were mentioned in the MO comments.

1. The date and time of each recorded incident. 

As there are so many crimes each with a unique time and date it is difficult to list. If a spreadsheet is preferred please let us kn

1. The specific location of each incident (e.g., park, street name, shopping area, public transport). 

The locations have been  taken from the MO location description.

1. The outcome of each case, including: 

1. Arrests made 
2. Cautions issued 
3. Charges brought and case outcomes (conviction, dropped, ongoing investigation, etc.) 

Below are the volume of crimes per year which include a person arrested indicator of yes.

The outcome of crimes are listed below, omitting those still being investigated.

We do not hold conviction data. It is the duty of Cleveland Police to identify and apprehend suspects, decisions regarding prosecutions are the responsibility of the Crown Prosecution Service and Convictions is that of HM Courts Service therefore Conviction data is held by HM Courts.

Having made enquiries within the Force above is all the information we hold.  Please note that all statistical data supplied in relation to Freedom of Information requests is a snapshot of data held at the time the request was received by the Freedom of Information office and is subject to constant change/updates.

The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.

If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in dealing with your request, you have the right to request an independent internal review of your case under our review procedure. The Freedom of Information Code of Practice (see below link) states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced. Public authorities are not obliged to accept internal reviews after this date.
