I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request. Below is your request and our response.
- The total number of cases of intimate image abuse / revenge porn received by the police force between 31 June 2025 to 1 January 2026.
- The total number of these cases within this timeframe that were closed with no further action by the police force.
- The number of cases within this timeframe that were closed without further action due to evidential difficulties
- The number of cases within this timeframe that were closed without further action because they were not deemed to be in the public interest.
Please note there is no longer a crime type of 'revenge porn'. This was replaced before the time period for this request.
I have provided the crime types of 088/15 instead this is Sharing or threatening to share intimate photograph or film and 175/08 - Share photograph or film of person in intimate state WITHOUT CONSENT. If different crime codes are required, please submit a further request.
The below table contains the volume of crimes recorded for the above crime types, validate in the period requested. The outcomes of the crime types is also provided. Those as 'new', are still being investigated.
