Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision that occurred on the junction of Durham Road and Londonderry Road in Stockton at around 4:50pm on Thursday 12th December.
A silver Vauxhall Astra and black Vauxhall Zafira were involved in the collision.
The 22-year-old driver of the Astra failed to stop at the scene prior to police arrival. He was arrested shortly after on suspicion of driving whilst over the drink drive limit, driving under the influence of drugs, driving without insurance, driving without a license and failing to stop. He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries are ongoing.
The 29-year-old passenger of the same vehicle was also arrested on suspicion of public order offence and obstructing/ resisting a constable in execution of duty. She has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries are ongoing.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any dash cam footage is asked to contact PC Ian Waugh on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the event number 211100.
