A man has sadly died following a house fire at an address on Clynes Road in Grangetown, Middlesbrough. Officers were called at around 8am yesterday morning (January 5) to reports of the fire. Cleveland Fire Brigade attended and dealt with the blaze.
Firefighters rescued a man from the building where he was then treated by a North East Ambulance Service crew, however he was sadly pronounced dead shortly after.
The fire is currently being treated as unexplained and a joint investigation is underway between Cleveland Police and Cleveland Fire Brigade. A post mortem is due to take place today, detectives believe they know the man’s identity, however formal identification has not yet taken place. The man’s family have been informed and our thoughts are with them.
