Two men were arrested by response officers on Friday night (27 January) after two separate alleged incidents of driving under the influence in Stockton.
Around 9:25pm on Friday 27th January, police received reports that a vehicle was being driven erratically on Stockton High Street.
Response officers attended and the Ford Focus was driven into a number of other vehicles, including a police vehicle.
A short pursuit took place whereby the vehicle was driven towards Durham Road, where the driver got out and made off on foot behind the old Mile House Pub.
Officers detained a man after a short foot pursuit.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and criminal damage. He was subsequently bailed whilst enquiries continue.
A short time later, just after midnight on Friday 27th into Saturday 28th January, officers from Response were on night time economy patrols in the Stockton High Street area when a Ford C-Max came to their attention, again after reportedly being driven in an erratic manner.
The driver was stopped and tested for drugs. He attempted to make off from police before being detained nearby.
Suspected class B drugs were recovered from the vehicle.
A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession of class B drugs, no insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
The man has been bailed whilst enquiries continue.
