The incident happened around 10am on Thursday 15th June on Keilder Close when a male approached the property on a small motorbike and used a chainsaw to attack the front door and windows, causing substantial damage.
The male, who was wearing dark clothing, then made off on the motorbike.
A woman aged in her twenties inside the address was fortunately unharmed, but left shaken.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have dash cam, CCTV or door bell footage of the male travelling to or approaching the address or any footage of the incident itself.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable David Alcock from Redcar and Cleveland CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 115653.
