Levels of dwelling burglaries, robberies and vehicle crime in Stockton are the lowest they have been in 2023, new figures show.
Dwelling burglaries in Stockton are down 23% from April compared to May while robberies are down 36% and vehicle crime has reduced by 20%.
Recent work in Stockton has resulted in officers securing a number of charges for burglaries and robberies.
One of those included a 17-year-old boy who was charged with six offences which occurred in Thornaby last month including two burglaries, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of vehicle interference and possession of a bladed article.
Another man, aged 29, was charged and remanded in custody for a burglary and five attempted burglaries which occurred in Thornaby as well as two robberies and an aggravated burglary.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Hodgson said: “There is some fantastic work going on across Stockton and we’re working closely with our partners to really clamp down on crime in the area.
“While this is no doubt welcome news for those who live and work in Stockton, we are not complacent and we’re aware that the job is not done.
“We will continue to build on the positive work we have achieved so far, and we will work hard to reduce crime and bring offenders to justice.
“I hope this reassures residents that we are listening to their concerns but their help and support remains crucial. I would encourage members of the public to continue reporting crime or concerns to us on 101.
