As International Week of Deaf People comes to a close, we’d like to thank everyone who works to support our Deaf communities, police officers, staff and volunteers.
PC Kieth Robinson (himself a hearing aid user) said: “It’s great to see the force recognise this important awareness week. Deafness or hearing difficulties shouldn’t bar anyone from joining the police service and Cleveland Police recognises this.”
“We can all do things to support the Deaf community like learning basic sign language, becoming educated on how Deaf people live and learn direct from Deaf people about things they would like to see improved in society.”
Let’s pledge to continue that support and work together to ensure Deaf people and people with hearing difficulties are truly included in society.
