Appeal after CCTV Damage in Middlesbrough

Police are appealing to trace the whereabouts of this motorbike and any information on who it belongs to, after an incident whereby a CCTV camera pole was cut down in Middlesbrough.
The incident took place on Valley Road between 11:54pm on Friday 9th August and 12:03am on Saturday 10th August, when the camera had been running for less than a day before the damage occurred.
The pole was cut using a Stihl saw, and fell onto a neighbouring property causing damage.
Two suspects can be clearly seen arriving on the motorbike prior to the damage being caused.
Acting Inspector Dan Oldroyd said: “It is senseless that a CCTV camera which has been installed to protect the public has been cut down and damaged, less than 24 hours since it was put there.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact police, or call Crimestoppers anonymously.”
Councillor Janet Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive member for Community Safety, said: “Our renowned CCTV network is there to keep communities safe, and to bring those responsible for crime and antisocial behaviour to justice.
“It speaks volumes that there are those who would seek to destroy this powerful crime-fighting tool, and that will only strengthen our resolve to further increase its scope and effectiveness.
“If you know this motorbike or those involved in its use, get in touch and help us track them down.”
The motorbike is believed to have gone along Valley Road/Park Road South, onto Eden Road then towards Rosedale Avenue.
