A man has been charged with a number of offences following a collision on Masefield Road in Hartlepool which left a 50-year-old woman with serious injuries.
The collision between a black Audi A4 and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van occurred at 4.35pm on Sunday 23rd June.
Officers arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving whilst disqualified and driving with no insurance.
He was charged with a number of those offences and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court in the morning (Friday 28th June).
A Volkswagen Passat initially thought to be connected to the incident was stopped nearby and the driver was arrested.
The 63-year-old driver and two other men aged 32 and 30, who were also arrested in connection with the incident, were released with no further action.
Following a further appeal, officers also confirmed that the two young children who were believed to be in the black Audi A4 at the time of the collision are safe and well.
