The 45-year-old man was found on Maltby Close shortly after midnight on Sunday 24 March.
He had an injury to his head and was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he is currently in a stable condition.
Following numerous enquiries police believe the man sustained his injury between 11.25pm and 11.53pm on Saturday 23 March in the Helmsley Drive area.
Detective Constable James Bartoli, from Redcar CID, said: “I am encouraging members of the public to get in touch to provide information about the circumstances that led to the man suffering a serious head injury.
“I would also ask people to check their CCTV or dash cam footage in the Helmsley Drive area and to contact police if it could help with our investigation.”
Please submit CCTV, dash cam footage and information to Cleveland Police by calling 101 quoting SE24053234.
