Cleveland Police is supporting Anti-Spiking Intensification Week which runs from Monday 18th March to Friday 22nd March.
The national week aims to raise awareness about spiking and reassure the public that police will continue to pursue perpetrators.
Throughout the week, our officers will be conducting patrols in town centres with colleagues from the local authorities and visiting pubs and clubs to help educate staff about signs to look out for.
Officers will also be handing out prevention tools such as anti-spiking glass covers to premises as well as posters with further information.
Detective Chief Inspector Gez Wraith said: “Cleveland Police takes spiking extremely seriously. Spiking can have a lasting impact on victims and can lead to further serious offences being committed.
“We will continue to pursue perpetrators and tackle predatory behaviour to ensure our towns are a safe place where people can enjoy a night out.
“It’s also important that the public know what to do if they think their drink has been spiked and how to get help.
“We’re committed to safeguarding victims and by working closely with pubs and clubs, we’re ensuring staff can provide immediate support.
“Every single incident which is reported to us is fully investigated so I would urge you to please contact us if you have any concerns or wish to a report an incident us.”
You can report any suspicious behaviour or incidents to police on 101 (or 999 in an emergency) or report online via the Cleveland Police website.
