A dispersal order is being issued in the Netherfields area of Middlesbrough, after reports of antisocial behaviour.
The order gives officers the powers to ask anyone in large groups to leave the area for 48 hours. If they return they could be arrested for breaching the order.
Officers will be conducting high visibility patrols across the weekend.
Anyone suspected of being involved in antisocial behaviour will be asked to leave the area.
T/Insp Steven Pattison from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are aware of increased reports of antisocial behaviour in the Netherfields area and a decision has been made to implement a further 48-hour dispersal order.
“A dispersal order is a preventative tool that we use to deter people from committing offences as it allows officers to disperse groups from a specified zone.
“We are listening to concerns raised by the community and we are working closely with our partner agencies including housing and the local council as well as parents to try to address the behaviour, as we know policing alone cannot solve the issue.
“Neighbourhood officers carry out regular patrols, along with dedicated PCSOs for the ward, to provide a visible presence in the area and deter any offending.
“If any members of the public have any issues or concerns, I would encourage them to please keep reporting incidents to us on 101.”
The order applies to any public place bounded by Fulbeck Raod, Sedgebrook Gardens, Stapleford Road, Midville Walk, Burwell Road, Althorpe Close and Cargo Fleet Lane.
Anyone who may wish to report ASB incidents in this area are asked to call 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.
