A senior Redcar & Cleveland response officer has paid tribute to two of his team who rescued a teenager from the sea off Redcar last night (Monday 31st March).
The 17-year-old had been submerged under the waves prior to PCs Duck and Bearpark arrival just after 6.15pm.
The officers immediately grabbed some throw lines and eventually managed to drag the girl out of the water.
She was checked over by ambulance service colleagues and left in their care.
Response Chief Inspector Mark Pitt said: “I’m very proud of the officers for taking such swift and decisive action last night. I’ve viewed the CCTV footage of the incident and I’m in no doubt they saved this young lady from drowning.”
