Detectives are appealing for information after a 51-year-old man was seriously injured in an attack on Yarm Lane in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 31 August.
The man was standing near to The Old Dun Cow pub at 4:40am, when he was assaulted by another man. The victim was punched and knocked unconscious, sustaining an injury to his head.
He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees where he is currently receiving treatment.
The suspect, a man wearing a grey tracksuit, then left the scene walking along Yarm Road then turning right onto Bridge Road.
There were a number of people in the area at the time and we would urge them to come forward.
Any witnesses, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident or the suspect, can call 101 quoting reference SE25166422.
