Redcar & East Cleveland neighbourhood police team, supported by our colleagues at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and Beyond Housing, has successfully secured a closure order on a property on Whitby Close in Skelton.
The address had been the subject of multiple complaints to police and partner agencies, so they gathered evidence of repeated ASB by the occupants and by visitors to the address, including in communal areas.
The closure order was granted at Teesside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Neighbourhoods Inspector Neil Deluce said: “Thanks to our combined efforts, and in particular the work from the local authority to prepare the order application for us, we had a successful result at court yesterday.
“No one should have to put up with constant noise, nuisance and extreme ASB and I hope neighbours of this property will now see an improvement in their quality of life.”
Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Cllr Adam Brook, added: “We are pleased to have supported our partners at Cleveland Police and Beyond Housing in securing this closure order. The anti-social behaviour reported at this property was having a serious impact on the wellbeing of residents. We remain committed to working closely with our partners to protect our communities and ensure neighbourhoods are safe and welcoming for everyone.”
And Sarah Hall, Director of Housing at Beyond Housing, said: “Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in their home. Beyond Housing is committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and nuisance within our communities. Working with key partners such as Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and Cleveland Police, this closure was a necessary step to support the residents of Whitby Street to live in their homes peacefully.”
