Shortly after 11pm on Thursday 7 August a report was received of an individual on Talbenny Grove who is suspected of shooting at a property.
Officers, including armed response, were immediately deployed to the area.
The occupants inside the property did not sustain any injuries.
Since then, officers have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
They are also asking residents to check their CCTV and dash cam footage and to contact police if it could assist the investigation.
Detective Inspector Chris Pringle, leading the investigation, said: “While we are in the early stages of the investigation, we believe the shooting was targeted and are following various lines of enquiry.
“I would encourage anyone who lives in the area and saw an individual acting suspiciously prior to and after the shooting to get in touch.
“The same goes for anyone who has information – no matter how small - that could assist the investigation to get in touch.
“There will be a visible policing presence in the area with officers conducting reassurance patrols. If you have any concerns, please do speak to them.”
