Officers from Stockton CID have been investigating two incidents in November which they believe are linked and they now have an image of a man they’d like to speak to as he may have information which could help ongoing enquiries.
The first incident was a report of an ongoing burglary at 1.05am on Friday 1st November 2024 at a house on Havilland Road in Thornaby.
The vulnerable elderly caller awoke to find an unknown man in the upstairs hallway and when they challenged him he left the house empty handed, climbing through a glass panel in the front door, which had been removed.
The caller was unharmed but left very shaken by the incident.
The second incident occurred at the nearby Aldi store at 1.12am where a male matching the description given by the householder is reported to have forced entry to the store then when challenged by staff, referred to a nearby burglary but fled when staff contacted police.
Detectives from Stockton CID have pursued multiple lines of enquiry since receiving these reports and would urge the man to come forward as he may have information to assist their ongoing investigation.
We would also appeal for anyone who knows the identity of the man pictured to contact us via the 101 number. Please quote ref SE24209401.
If you don't want to speak to police you can pass information anonymously to www.crimestoppers-uk.org or phone them on 0800 555 111.
