In the last 12 months, Cleveland Police has seen a 16.1% drop in vehicle crimes with 730 fewer reports to the year before.
Superintendent Alan O’Donoghue, Cleveland Police’s lead for vehicle crime, said: “Our most up to date figures show that overall vehicle crime has fallen across Cleveland.
“Our officers regularly patrol areas highlighted as potential hotspots for vehicle crime, along with dedicated operations to tackle those responsible.
“We always encourage our communities to report suspicious activity and vehicle crime so we can deploy our resources to the right areas.
“It’s fantastic to see this level of crime reduce across Cleveland, and our strategy is paying off; however, we are not complacent and will continue to do everything we can to tackle vehicle crime across Teesside.”
