A swift and proactive response by neighbourhood officers PC O’Kane and McKenzie saw a teenager arrested in Stockton yesterday (Friday 23rd May) during a plain-clothed operation they had planned and executed.
On 19th and 20th May police had received reports that a male had exposed himself to children and made inappropriate comments to them as they left school in the Hartburn area of Stockton.
The two officers immediately arranged and undertook plain clothed patrols to coincide with the end of the school day (the times when the alleged offences had taken place) in the hope the suspect could be identified and arrested - or at least deterred.
Yesterday afternoon in Ropner Park they arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of indecent exposure and on suspicion of inciting a child to engage in a sexual act.
He was interviewed and has been released on bail with conditions, pending further enquiries.
