Members of the public will now be able to contact Cleveland Police via a new live chat service.
Accessible via the Cleveland Police website from Wednesday 29th October, www.cleveland.police.uk, the live chat service will be initially available from 8am until 7pm, seven days a week for non-urgent matters (always call 999 in an emergency), with a proposal to increase this to 24/7 coverage in the near future.
Temporary Chief Superintendent Martin Hopps, Head of Operations, said: “We’re committed to making it easier than ever for the public to reach us. In addition to our established 101 phone service, we’re expanding our digital contact options by launching a new live chat feature on the Cleveland Police website.
“This modern communication tool offers a quick, convenient, and discreet way for people to get in touch with us for non-urgent matters. Whether seeking advice, reporting concerns, or asking questions, users can now connect with our team in real time—without needing to make a call.
“By embracing digital channels, we’re improving accessibility, reducing wait times, and ensuring that people can choose the method of contact that best suits their needs. It’s all part of our ongoing effort to modernise policing and enhance public engagement.”
