A 64-year-old man has been sentenced after Middlesbrough Proactive Team officers spotted a drugs exchange in a vehicle and seized crack cocaine.
Officers stopped the BMW on Stamford Street on Wednesday 21st May, where the driver was identified as Clavell Sutton.
He was seen to attempt to conceal something, and was taken to Middlesbrough police station to be searched, where officers found crack cocaine hidden in his shorts.
Sutton was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
A phone recovered from the passenger seat also had messages on it consistent with drugs activity.

On Friday 31st October, Sutton was sentenced at Durham Crown Court to 32 months in prison, plus a victim surcharge of £228.
Middlesbrough Proactive Team Sergeant John Sproson said: “As we continue to tackle drug dealers in the Middlesbrough area, we continue to urge those in our local communities who may have information regarding drugs activity to contact us, either on 101, the Cleveland Police website or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
“We are listening to the public’s concerns and we are acting upon them, and are pleased with today’s outcome of imprisonment for Clavell Sutton.”
