Update on emergency services' presence around River Tees at Preston Park.

Following our earlier appeal for the public to avoid the Preston Park area whilst emergency services dealt with an incident, we can now confirm that very sadly the body of a woman has been recovered from the water.

Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this extremely distressing time.

Enquiries are underway to formally identify the lady and at this stage the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
