Hartlepool CID have seen a number of people responsible for serious crimes in Hartlepool sentenced this week. Four people who carried out a robbery, a burglary and an aggravated burglary have been jailed and removed from the streets of the town.

Leon Robinson was sentenced to six years in prison for an aggravated robbery he carried out at The Golden Bird Takeaway in the early hours of Sunday 18th May. Shortly after 1.30am in the morning, Robinson forces his way into the takeaway and took a knife from the kitchen. He then made his way upstairs to the victims’ flat and threatened to harm those living there whilst he searched their home. He then stole a large amount of cash, 80 packets of cigarettes and two mobile phones.

Jeffrey Mincher, 27, and Denim Thomas, 45, both from Hartlepool, were each jailed for three years for a robbery on a vulnerable victim with Autism. As the 34-year-old man walked along York Road in Hartlepool, Mincher and Thomas grabbed his arms and stole cash and hand sanitiser from him.

Leigh Hunter was sentenced to a year and 7 months in prison for a string of offences including thefts from cars, shoplifting, vehicle interference and using victims’ stolen bank cards in shops. One of these included targeting an elderly couple in their 70s in the Burn Valley area of Hartlepool in January. Hunter walked into their home, stealing a bag of gifts and hampers the couple had received as Christmas gifts, along with the man’s coat containing his car keys. Hunter then returned a few days later and stole the couple’s Mercedes, which she crashed into a Barber’s shop in Durham.
