Detectives investigating a serious assault outside the Deck nightclub in Redcar are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information.
It happened at around 4.10am on Saturday 18th April when it was reported that a man was hit with a glass bottle by another man before two others also began assaulting the victim.
The first man is then thought to repeatedly hit the victim with a hammer as well as another person who tried to intervene in the assault.
This suspect is described as a white male aged in his early to mid-20s. He was wearing a grey puffer jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and was believed to be wearing a green jumper prior to this.
The two others who got involved in the assault are described as white males of a similar age to the first suspect. One wore brown camouflage trousers and a green jacket with the hood up, while the other wore a two-tone grey tracksuit and a green cap, again with the hood pulled up.
A fourth person driving a grey Audi A1 is believed to have drove the suspects away from the scene.
Detectives would also like to speak to a woman aged in her mid-20s with blonde hair who was dressed in black trousers and a black top who was at the scene.
Thankfully, the victim did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. Extensive enquiries are currently being conducted by Redcar and Cleveland CID, including CCTV work.
Detective Constable Steve Emsley said: “While I understand this incident may cause some concern to those living in the area, this appears to have been a targeted assault with no threat to the wider community.
“Detectives are carrying out several lines of investigation and members of the public who were in the area at the time and saw what happened are asked to contact the police.
“Anyone with information or footage of the incident is asked to call 101 quoting reference 072396. Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously online or by calling 0800 555 111.”
