We were contacted with a report that around 2.15pm yesterday (Thursday 12th February) a man was walking his dog in Linthorpe Cemetery when it was clipped by a black e-bike being ridden at speed by a man believed to be in his 20s, with dark hair and dark clothing.
The caller reported the rider fell from the bike, potentially sustaining a cut to his head, then left the scene.
Very sadly despite the pet owner seeking veterinary treatment, the dog could not be saved. We would appeal for anyone with information or any relevant footage from in or around the area to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 027484.
If you don’t feel able to speak to police, you can pass information anonymously to independent charity www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by phoning them on 0800 555 111.
