Middlesbrough Community Action Team have had a busy week, with a hat-trick of drugs seizures in the east Middlesbrough area.
As part of Project Orme, officers are working closely with partner agencies to clamp down on organised crime and revitalise the area for those who live and work in the east Middlesbrough area (TS3).
On Tuesday 3rd February, officers from the Community Action Team arrested a 32-year-old man after he was searched on Glenworth Avenue in Netherfield’s and was found in possession of large amounts of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine and cash. He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drug and was later bailed whilst enquiries continue.
On Wednesday 4th February, a drugs warrant was executed at a property on Fleet Close in Netherfields. Officers searching the address and found large amounts of suspected crack cocaine and a 45-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. She was bailed whilst enquiries continue.
Again, on Thursday 5th February, officers from the Community Action Team along with officers from the Matrix Disruption Team seized suspected crack cocaine, zopiclone tablets and a large amount of cash when they carried out another warrant at an address in Brancepeth Avenue in Park End.
A 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A and class C drugs. Both were bailed whilst enquiries continue.
Another man was also arrested on suspicion of breaching court bail.
Sergeant Ben Wood from Middlesbrough Community Action Team, said "Officers from the Middlesbrough Community Action Team have been working hard with local partners to identify individuals who are suspected of being involved in organised crime. This hard work has led to numerous arrests and the seizure of significant quantities of suspected drugs which could be harmful to the communities of east Middlesbrough. My team will continue to take a proactive approach in tackling those who are suspected of providing harmful drugs and profiting from exploiting vulnerable people."
