Appeal after group on quadbikes commit crimes in Ormesby and Grangetown overnight

Police are appealing for information after a group of people on quadbikes committed several crimes in Grangetown last night, Saturday 10th January, and into the early hours of this morning, Sunday 11th January.

Two arrests have been made in the early hours of this morning and police enquiries are ongoing to locate the others involved.

At around 10:20pm, a group of between 10 to 15 young men on quadbikes were causing a nuisance around Norham Walk in Ormesby when they knocked over a 53-year-old woman, injuring her arm and causing damage to her Audi A3, before fleeing the area towards Normanby Road and Cargo Fleet Lane.

Shortly after this incident, the same group is believed to have gone to Tasties takeaway on Allendale Road in Ormesby where they knocked over and injured two men aged 45 and 36, and damaged a silver VW Golf. Both men were left with serious cuts to their arms and legs as a result of the incident.

Then, shortly before 1am this morning, Sunday 11th January, police were called to an incident where a man had been stabbed in an address on Slater Walk in Grangetown. The man was attacked by the group and a window at the property was smashed. The suspects had attended on quadbikes and are believed to be the same group of people involved in the earlier incidents.

The same group then moved onto Goji’s Pizza Di Mare on High Street in Redcar at around 1:45am, where a woman working there was threatened.

Two men aged 23 and18 were arrested early this morning in connection with these incidents and taken to police custody for questioning.

These incidents will undoubtedly cause some concern for people living in Grangetown and Ormesby, and we have patrols in these areas today and for the coming days to provide a police presence for people living in these communities. We believe that there have been other victims throughout the night who have not come forward to speak to us yet and are appealing for them to get in touch so that we can check on their welfare.
