A man was found with significant injuries on Carrick Street in Hartlepool, following reports of a disturbance between a man and a woman in the street at 2:45am on the morning of Sunday 31 May.
When police arrived, the man was lying unconscious in the road with multiple injuries, including a significant injury to his head.
Officers were told that he had been assaulted by a man, who fled the scene with a woman wearing a dressing gown.
