A dispersal order has been put in place this afternoon in Newtown, Stockton, to tackle antisocial behaviour in the area.
The order will run from 2pm this afternoon (19 June) until 2pm on Sunday (21 June) across Newtown and, in particular, around the Phoenix Sidings area.
It gives officers the powers to ask people to leave the area for the specified time period. If they return, they could be arrested for breaching the order.
The order is not to target those going about legitimate and lawful business. Anyone suspected of being involved in antisocial behaviour will be asked to leave the area.
Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Vickers said: “We know some of you have highlighted recent reports of antisocial behaviour and other criminality and this order provides us with extra powers to deter those causing issues.
“Our officers and PCSOs will be conducting high visibility patrols in the area so please speak to them if you have any concerns. Please continue to report any incidents to us. Information from the public is key to help us address the issues and deal with those involved.”
If you wish to report any issues or concerns you can call 101 or report non-emergencies via our website. Always call 999 in an emergency.
