Detectives investigating an incident on the morning of Wednesday 17 June, where a schoolgirl was approached by a stranger as she waited for her school bus, have arrested a man.
The 14-year-old girl had been approached on Bamburgh Road in Clavering at 8am, before she fled to safety.
The 30-year-old man, who is white British, has been taken to police custody for questioning.
Hartlepool District Commander, Acting Superintendent Nick See said: “Uniformed patrols will continue in the area to provide safety and reassurance to our communities.
“I would encourage residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour or information that may assist the investigation to Cleveland Police.
“The safety of our communities remains our priority, and we are committed to working with residents to keep the area safe while enquiries continue.”
