It comes after officers received a report from a member of the public at 9.30pm on Monday 2 March.
The woman got out of a car on Scalby Grove in Stockton and spoke to a man who was inside the vehicle where they appeared to have an argument. The woman then appears to have been forced back into the car, and they both drove away.
She is described as having long brown hair and wearing stripe pyjamas.
Officers are appealing to trace the woman to check on her welfare.
If you know who the woman might be, or if you think you might be the woman, please get in touch with officers on 101 quoting reference number 039854.
