Man Jailed after Three Knifepoint Robberies in Guisborough

A man has today been sentenced to a total of 19 years after carrying out three knifepoint robberies in Guisborough.

Steven Bremner, aged 34, from Raithwaite Close in Guisborough, carried out the robberies in the town over a period of five months.

The first incident took place at Betfred on 13^th March 2025, where he carried a knife and made threats before stealing cash. The second was at Asda petrol station where he had two knives and made off with items from the store. The last took place at Coral Bookmakers on 20^th July 2025 where Bremner had kicked a locked door to gain entry, before threatening two women with knives and stealing over £1,300 in cash.

Bremner had his face covered during the robberies but was identified from his voice and DNA which had been left on the tip of a knife which had snapped off as he tried to open a till in Asda petrol station.

A Cleveland Police investigation led to Bremner going on trial, where he was convicted of all three robberies. Today, Thursday 26^th March, Steven Bremner (photographed below) was sentenced to 15 years in prison, plus another four on licence for being a dangerous offender.

Police Staff Investigator Paul Richardson, from Cleveland Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “These incidents were terrifying for those who would have seen Bremner and been in the premises when they occurred. Bremner has shown no regard for anyone but himself, and committed these crimes for his own personal gain.

“I am pleased with the sentence handed to Bremner today, our communities have now been safeguarded from him and he can no longer cause them harm.

“Those who carry knives and threaten to harm people will be put before the courts and justice will be served.”
