Today, Friday 27th March, a man was jailed after crashing a car and attempting to run from officers whilst in possession of class A drugs.
Wilson Junior Wunganai (pictured below), aged 38, from Gretton Avenue in Middlesbrough, failed to stop for Middlesbrough Proactive Team officers on Palm Street in central Middlesbrough on Thursday 27th November 2025.

The Volvo made off at speed, before attempting to drive through a narrow pedestrian path leading to Borough Road. The car crashed and became wedged between two brick planters, before Wunganai tried to run from the car.
He was detained nearby on Borough Road after a foot pursuit with officers, and suspected cocaine was recovered, valued at around £360.
He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, dangerous driving and disqualified driving.
A subsequent search of his home address led to over £10,000 in cash and further quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis being recovered.
Wunganai was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of cannabis, possession of criminal property, dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified. Today he was jailed for a total of 4.5 years at Teesside Crown Court and was disqualified from driving for 57 months.
Middlesbrough Proactive Team Sergeant John Sproson said: “Another man has rightly been put before the courts and has been brought to justice as we continue to proactively target drugs activity in Middlesbrough.
“Let this be a warning to those who are bringing drugs into Middlesbrough to distribute them into our communities; we are watching you and you will be caught.”
