A 32-year-old man has appeared before Teesside Magistrates’ Court this morning, charged with murder and attempted grievous bodily harm (attempted section 18 assault) after two men were assaulted in Church Street in Hartlepool at 3am on Monday 25 May.
The 50-year-old man had suffered a serious head injury and sadly passed away yesterday evening (Tuesday 26 May).
The other man, aged 49, was treated in hospital and later discharged.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Matt Hollingsworth said: "Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this sad and difficult time."
