Ian became our Director of Finance and Assets in 2022, having worked as a finance professional in the public sector for over 20 years. He has statutory responsibility for the force’s finances and use of public money.
Ian began his career in the NHS before transferring to local government, initially with North Yorkshire County Council and then Middlesbrough Borough Council. At Middlesbrough he worked in Corporate Finance and then on the Council’s Change Programme, dealing with service transformation and savings for a number of years before becoming Director of Finance and Section 151 Officer.
He was born and raised in Middlesbrough before studying French at Durham University and then completing his Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountancy qualification after beginning work.
Away from the world of finance, Ian is a long standing fan of Middlesbrough Football Club which helps him maintain his sense of optimism, and is a long term resident of Stockton.
