Have you heard of the Youth Offending Team?
Carrying a knife or a bladed article is an extremely serious offence, for which you will be arrested. If you have been caught carrying a blade on more than one occasion, and have other previous convictions, then officers will pursue a charge, for which you could be convicted in court and end up with a criminal record.
Just because you’ve been stopped by police, it doesn’t mean they can’t help. Police officers are here to uphold the law, but they’re also here to offer support and guidance and help you get back on track.
If you want help getting away from knife crime, violence or drugs, let an officer know. They can refer you to relevant agencies and charities who can support you to keep away from the criminal world and build the life you want to live.
You may be referred to the Youth Offending Team (YOT). Officers within the team will:
The team will also engage with other agencies to work with any mental health issues, and to build self-esteem and confidence to take steps towards a life away from crime.
