A 24-year-old man was charged and remanded to appear at court today (Thursday 5th March) after we were notified at around 6pm yesterday that a man on an electric motorbike was believed to be dealing drugs in the Thorntree area of Middlesbrough.

    The Clear Hold Build programme continues across the Middlesbrough East area, including communities within Brambles and Thorntree, Berwick Hills and Pallister, Longlands and Beechwood, and Park End and Beckfield.
    Residents continue to experience the impact of:
    •Organised crime group activity.
    •Drug dealing and criminal exploitation.
    •Associated anti-social behaviour.
    •Community intimidation and fear of crime.
    WHAT MBORO SOUTH NPT WILL DO
    •Continue to support and deliver Clear Hold Build objectives with partner agencies.
    •Target organised crime groups causing the greatest harm.
    •Increase neighbourhood officer visibility within affected communities.
    •Work closely with housing providers, local authority teams and community groups.
    •Identify and safeguard vulnerable individuals at risk of exploitation.
    •Deliver problem-solving plans aimed at preventing organised crime from re-establishing influence within communities.

    Retail crime remains a significant concern across Middlesbrough South. Businesses continue to report persistent shop theft and repeat offending, particularly around retail locations on:
    •Saltersgill Avenue in Longlands & Beechwood ward.
    •Shelton Court in Brambles & Thorntree ward.
    •Fosdyke Green in Park End & Beckfield ward.
    •Other identified retail hotspots across the area.
    Retail crime is often linked to substance misuse, anti-social behaviour and repeat offenders who cause disproportionate harm to businesses, staff and customers.
    WHAT MBORO SOUTH NPT WILL DO
    •Target prolific and repeat shoplifters through offender management plans.
    •Conduct dedicated patrols within retail locations.
    •Work closely with retailers, security staff and CCTV operators.
    •Pursue Criminal Behaviour Orders against persistent offenders.
    •Use intelligence-led activity to identify offenders and secure prosecutions.
    •Address underlying causes through partnership working where vulnerability or addiction is identified.
    DESIRED OUTCOMES
    •Reduction in shop theft offences.
    •Increased detections and positive outcomes against offenders.
    •Improved confidence amongst retailers and staff.
    •Safer and more welcoming retail environments
