Off road bikes and quads, around Somerset Road area. Also along Norton High Street

In April, May, June we received 1, 4 and 3 calls respectively regarding off road bikes in the Norton Central Ward. We seized one motorbike within the ward in May.
The volume of calls regarding the anti-social use of motorbikes in rural and urban areas has increased dramatically throughout the UK since lockdown ended. Unfortunately, research shows that the volume of calls is continuing to increase. Whilst not every force suffers with the same level of problems, forces which are considered to have similar demographics to our own have seen considerable rises in calls for service relating to bikes. Operation Endurance is Cleveland Police's ongoing enforcement, prevention and partnership campaign to reduce the harm caused by off-road bikes and e-bikes, improve community safety, and disrupt those using bikes for anti-social behaviour or criminal activity. The dedicated Cleveland Police bike task force have seized 75 bikes county wide since being created in June 2026.

Drug dealing, around Japonica Way and Somerset Road

Issue
Drug dealing and substance misuse cause widespread harm across Stockton District, impacting public safety, community confidence, vulnerable individuals, businesses, and families. Drug supply is closely linked to violence, weapon possession, exploitation, ORB use, ASB, and acquisitive crime.

What We Will Do
•Proactive policing, including:
oHigh visibility and plain clothes operations
oStop searches linked to unrelated offences that identify drug possession and supply
oIntelligence led patrols and surveillance
•Execution of Misuse of Drugs Act warrants based on community and partner intelligence.
•Use of drone capability to identify street level dealing and addresses being used to supply drugs.
•Closure of drug related properties through partnership working with the Local Authority and housing providers, including closure orders and tenancy enforcement.
•Targeting exploitation, including those profiting from drug supply and those exploiting vulnerable individuals.
•Tackling associated criminality, including counterfeit goods such as illegal cigarettes and vapes.
•Education and prevention, especially for young people, focusing on:
oHealth risks
oCriminal consequences
oExploitation and long term harm
•Wrap around support for vulnerable individuals drawn into drug use or criminal exploitation.

Throughout this period, ASB reports have remained at a relatively consistent level. During June and July 2025, there were 17 and 28 reported incidents respectively. More recently, April, May and June 2026 there have been recorded 30, 18 and 13 ASB incidents respectively, indicating a continuing demand for police attention within the area.
Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and Police Constables (PCs) regularly patrol identified hotspot locations and take positive action where issues are identified. These proactive patrols and engagement activities will continue in order to deter anti-social behaviour and address concerns raised by the community.
