Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams are proud to police the area of Cleveland, which covers the districts of Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough.
These teams are made up of police officers, police community support officers and special constables, and are supported by officers from other departments. They work to prevent crime, protect communities, tackle criminals and make sure those intent on causing our communities harm are stopped.
Our officers often run community drop-in events, and work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to shape our policing priorities for the area and find solutions to community problems.
Off road vehicles
Issued 10 May 2025
Over the past 3 months we have used powers including premises closure orders and dispersal orders in areas where there were issues. We understand the ongoing issue with offroad and Electric Motorcycles which are a local and national issue. The neighbourhood policing teams are actively engaging with the younger members of the community and parents to educate them on the dangers and legal status of riding what some see as toys without a valid license and insurance which is required.
We continue to run Operation Endurance to target and seize problematic offroad/Electric motorcycles. This enforcement approach has led to successful seizures and ultimately the confiscation and crushing of many vehicle over the least few months.

Antisocial behaviour
Issued 10 May 2025
We constantly monitor call levels and speak to the public to identify areas where anti-social behaviour is taking place. Where required we adopt a problem-solving approach, working with partners agencies including community safety from the local authority.
In total calls for anti-social behaviour over the three-month period is 545 incidents recorded; this is an increase of 13.1% against the same period last year. Whilst we would always like to see figures going down, we are encouraged that the public are reporting incidents to Police and partners that in the past they may not have. We do use this information to base problem solving and enforcement strategies and direct our resources. we continue to ask incidents are reported.

Burglary
Issued 10 May 2025
We have continued to work with our colleagues to tackle burglary issues in the district. This includes supporting victims by identifying vulnerability such as poor lighting and making offer of some crime prevention equipment which we secured funding for earlier in the year. We have given targeted patrols is areas showing an increase in burglary and worked with colleagues in CID to identify and detain those responsible. Stockton officers are asked to make enquiries around dwelling burglary offences to make the locality aware, which improves target hardening by making everyone aware of the issue and giving advice to report suspicious activity. Residential burglaries are down 27.3% in the last 6-month period and we will continue our combined efforts to reduce this further.
