PCSOs spend the first 14 weeks of their employment in training. The majority of this is a classroom based environment where they will gain the skills and knowledge required to be effective members of the Neighbourhood Policing Team. Once they have completed their initial training they are subject to 10 weeks with a tutor before they can go out independently.
From your first day, the training team will expect you to take personal responsibility for your learning; and expect to be pushed out of your comfort zone. Cleveland Police are looking to shape your development so expect to be challenged.
You will experience a range of learning opportunities in both a classroom setting and practical based exercises. This will cover aspects of legislation, policies and procedures.
Should any candidates need additional assistance or reasonable adjustments through their training, this can be facilitated by our Learning & Development team.
Successful completion of the programme will lead to a Skills for Justice Level 4 Diploma in Community Policing Practice and will provide you will all of the skills to carry out your role supporting our front-line policing.
