Antisocial behaviour in Guisborough
Issued 21 March 2025
Police had a peak of complaints about ASB towards the end of 2024. Since then, progress has been made with various cohorts of young people and with the ASB reducing. This was achieved through obtaining a Criminal Behaviour Order that excluded a male from the town plus further partnership work with RCBC’s ASB Team. After the initial fall in incidents, we wanted to ensure the reductions were sustainable and have continued to deploy resources to the area. There have been some local youths involved but also several youths from outside of the town travelling in and being instigators of some ASB. We have worked closely with other Neighbourhood Police Teams to identify those responsible. This has led to several young people being interviewed under caution and the issuing of Acceptable Behaviour Agreements with RCBC.
Police are gathering evidence now to seek a further order at court that we hope would prohibit another individual from entering Guisborough.
Our patrols most recently have been centred around Howlbeck Road, Allison Street, the retail park and behind Belmont House. We will continue to monitor and patrol the area and have just commenced an additional set of patrols to address ASB across the area, and this part of Guisborough will be part of that extra resource patrol plan.
