Antisocial behaviour in and around the disused Guisborough Hospital.
Issued 17 August 2026
Targeted patrols are regularly carried out in hotspot areas at key times to detect, deter and prevent antisocial behaviour. We are monitoring the abandoned Guisborough Hospital to tackle those that are involved in antisocial behaviour and causing damage to the building. We are working closely with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council to ensure the building is secured. Several young people have been identified and issued antisocial behaviour warnings and spoken to in front of parents/ carers. We will continue to identify those responsible and patrol key areas.

Retail crime
Issued 17 August 2026
Retail crime, in particular, shoplifting, is a priority to the local neighbourhood policing team. A small number of prolific offenders have caused problems at several retail premises around Westgate and Rectory Lane.
Over recent weeks we have taken positive action against those causing harm to our community.
20-year-old Callum Briggs was arrested, interviewed and charged. He attended court and was dealt with for breach of his community order and thefts, receiving a 51-week sentence.
Furthermore, in June, we targeted repeat offender, David Robinson who was also arrested, interviewed and charged. He attended court and was dealt with for numerous thefts and received a 74-week custodial sentence.
Just a few days ago, Nicky Holmes, was handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at court. The order was sought by local neighbourhood officers with support from Beyond Housing and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and will run until 9th July 2028. The order includes conditions which will protect retail staff and residents.
We will continue to work with retailers and support them against prolific offenders.
High visibility patrols will continue to deter and detect offending and reassure staff and shoppers.
