Anti-social behaviour
Issued 26 May 2026
We continue to carry out regular high visibility foot patrols on the Coatham Ward. NPT officers work closely with residents, businesses and partner agencies to address theft and antisocial behaviour across Coatham.
We have acted robustly against offenders and are actively working with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council ASB officer, to secure Criminal Behaviour orders (CBO’s) for adults, with enforceable conditions to control behaviour.
Young people who are identified as being involved in ASB are dealt with by being issued AS13s or out of court disposals, which can include community resolutions and U-Turn diversion schemes to help educate them.
Many youths have now been issued with acceptable behaviour agreements (ABA’s) and anti-social behaviour injunctions (ASBI’s) due to their significant involvement in ASB in the area, alongside other early interventions to prevent escalation.
NPT officers will often look at patterns of ASB and we continue to put dispersal orders in place when required, in order to prevent ASB and potential escalation.
One youth has recently breached his ASBI, and he is being dealt with
We continually review incidents to ensure we are taking proportionate and effective action.
The ASB has been centred around the High Street and Esplanade and we will continue to gather evidence and take enforcement action.

Drug dealing & misuse
Issued 26 May 2026
Redcar NPT continues to prioritise the disruption of drug use and dealing through regular high visibility patrols and community-led intelligence driven activities and enforcement operations.
We act robustly on information provided by the community using local intelligence to identify those involved and locations of concern. We seek Magistrates Drug Warrants and execute these where the threshold is met, alongside using stop search powers, CCTV and targeted patrols to disrupt drug related activity.
Where individuals are identified as vulnerable or in need of support, they are sign posted to "We are with you" and other partner agencies.
We continue to work closely with partner agencies to tackle persistent offenders, safeguard vulnerable individuals and reduce the impact of drug use and dealing within the Coatham area.
When a property is identified as causing ongoing issues in the community due to drug use or dealing, Redcar NPT works closely with housing associations and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council to secure house closure orders. Resulting in the property being closed for a specific period and to disrupt criminal activity and protect the community. We will continue to gather intelligence and take enforcement action.
