  • Priority:

    Anti-social behaviour

    Issued 17 August 2026

    Action taken:

Update : Officers in the Coatham Ward continue to maintain a strong presence across the ward, with particular focus on the High Street and Esplanade areas through regular high-visibility patrols. Working alongside residents, businesses and partner agencies, we remain committed to tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) and theft-related issues affecting the community.
We are taking positive action against those responsible for causing harm and disruption, including working closely with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council's ASB Team to pursue Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) for adult offenders where appropriate. These orders can impose conditions designed to prevent further offending and protect local communities.
Where young people are identified as being involved in ASB, officers use a range of interventions, including AS13 warning letters, Community Resolutions and diversionary initiatives such as the U-Turn Scheme. These measures aim to address behaviour at an early stage and provide opportunities for education and positive change.
We continually assess reported incidents and intelligence to ensure our response remains proportionate, effective and focused on community needs.
Recent reports have highlighted concerns in the Majuba Sand Dunes. We will continue to gather evidence, work with partner agencies and take appropriate enforcement action against those responsible for anti-social behaviour.

    Drug dealing & misuse

    Issued 17 August 2026

    Action taken:

Update : Redcar Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) remains committed to tackling drug use and drug-related criminality within the Coatham area through a combination of high-visibility patrols, intelligence-led policing, and targeted enforcement activity.
We actively respond to information provided by residents and partner agencies, using local intelligence to identify individuals involved in drug-related offences and locations causing concern within the community. Where appropriate, officers utilise a range of enforcement powers and tactics, including stop searches, CCTV monitoring, targeted patrols, and the execution of Magistrates' Drug Warrants to disrupt criminal activity and bring offenders to justice.
Alongside enforcement, we recognise the importance of supporting vulnerable individuals affected by substance misuse. Where appropriate, individuals are referred to specialist support services such as We Are With You and other partner organisations to help address underlying issues and reduce future harm.
Redcar NPT continues to work closely with housing providers, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, and other partner agencies to address persistent offending, safeguard vulnerable people, and reduce the impact of drug-related activity on local communities. When properties are identified as being linked to ongoing drug use or dealing, we work collaboratively with partners to secure Closure Orders where legislative thresholds are met. These orders help prevent further criminality, protect residents, and improve the quality of life for those living nearby.
We will continue to gather intelligence, act on community concerns, and take positive action to disrupt drug-related activity and keep Coatham a safe place to live, work, and visit.

  • Priority:

    Begging

    Issued 17 August 2026

    Action taken:

Redcar Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) continues to address concerns relating to begging and associated anti-social behaviour within Redcar Town Centre, particularly around High Street and Regent Walk. We recognise the impact that persistent begging can have on local businesses, residents, and visitors, and we remain committed to keeping the town centre a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Officers carry out regular high-visibility patrols and engage with individuals involved in begging to understand their circumstances and identify any underlying vulnerabilities. Where appropriate, enforcement action is taken to address anti-social behaviour, while those requiring support are referred to relevant partner agencies for assistance with housing, substance misuse, mental health concerns, and other welfare needs.
Redcar NPT will continue to monitor areas of concern, act on information provided by the community, and work with partners to ensure that vulnerable individuals receive appropriate support while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.
